National Air Charters operated cargo flights using the Zambia Airways aircraft freighters, the B707 and B757 and when these aircraft were retired it was assigned the responsibility to lease in cargo aircraft from various cargo airlines around the world. This it carried out in addition to the import & export, warehousing and other aviation related activities, later refocussing its business to concentrate on ground handling.

In 1999 the company was put up for sale and was sold into private hands, and so NAC2000 was born.
